The Walking Free Pampanga Program of the Kapampangan   Development Foundation (KDF)distributes for  free,   high technical artificial legs   (prosthesis) and  wheelchairs to indigent amputees and    physically disabled "cabalens" in Pampanga.  KDF had previously tied up with Clark Development Corporation (CDC) as part  of its    Corporate Social Responsibility Program under its  Health/   Community  service component. However, KDF has now relocated its prosthesis laboratory at the Jose A. Datu Medical Center (JADMC) in Barangay San Vicente, Bacolor, Pampanga. The move aims to facilitate faster measurement of prosthesis applicants and to further cater to more number of amputees by making the laboratory more accessible to the rest of the province.

The aim is to strategically locate the laboratory in Bacolor town where the KDF has also been launching many of its medical and socio-civic programs at the JADMC, which it operates alongside with other civic organization partners. Screenings are held every first Wednesday (1-3 p.m.) and third Saturday (8-11 p.m.) of the month, while adjustment of prosthesis is held daily from Monday to Saturday (8-5 p.m.).

Limb amputees are almost physically helpless and need continuous assistance from relatives. Restoring their physical capabilities will make them and their caretaker relatives productive again. When 1,000 physically disabled have been provided with artificial legs, it would mean 1,000 physically and socially active citizens. Moreover, their caretakers would likewise become productive. This would mean 2,000 additional productive manpower in the society. (click here to read more)
